Letter from the principal

April 07, 2015
To
All the Members of the UTC Society, Friends and Well-wishers who partner with UTC in the ministry of theological education.
Dear All,
Quite recently it was brought to our notice that some emails and letters (including from those who have served or have been associated with the College and from some senders who claim to be anonymous) with a scanned copy of the communication received by the United Theological College from the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India are in circulation. It would be appropriate that I briefly respond to the matter. There was an on-site inspection of UTC’s Accounts and Records by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on September 15-17, 2014. The administration has fully co-operated with the team of officers representing the Ministry of Home Affairs and made available to them all the documents they have asked for. However, based on their initial observations the department has asked us for further clarifications on investment in certain specified securities (this was done in the year 1995) and the participation of some students in their individual capacity in certain people’s movement. We have responded to these observations and are waiting for the response from the Department. Pending the clearance of these observations our FCRA registration has been put under suspension for the time being. We are taking adequate measures to clarify the points of reference and restore our FCRA registration. We would like to assure all our friends, supporters and partners that we are completely transparent and accountable to all our stake-holders and would continue to be so.

With kind regards,

Rev. Dr. J. R. John Samuel Raj
(Principal)
