Pongal worship held in UTC

The Tamil fellowship of the UTC held the Pongal worship yesterday morning on the library lawn. The worship was a mix of colour, traditional songs, dance and fellowship.

The worship engaged the audience and explored the sad minds of people post the devastating floods in Tamil Nadu and how people are celebrating the new year despite the hard ships and challenges faced. It reminded everyone of our responsibilities as caretakers of Mother earth and why we should look at the thoughtful pongal celebration of an agrarian people.

The hope in the midst of adversity was shown in the boiling over of the milk and the call 'Pongal o pongal'. Guests from other seminaries also witnessed the colorful worship.

The lawn resembled a recreation of rural India with the call for all to join hands with God's creation instead of going against it.

Pongal celebration starts with kabaddi

The Pongal celebration of the Tamil Fellowship of the UTC started with kabaddi competition yesterday evening. All BD batches competed and the competition was witnessed by a big crowd.

Festivals of various fellowship groups are celebrated round the year in UTC with worship and other programmes. The Tamil fellowship has started off festivities with Pongal in 2016.

The competition was held with a spirit of fun and togetherness even though the competition was serious.

Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and McCormick Theological Seminary programme

The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and the McCormick Theological Seminary faculty and students are on a visit to India as part of a course they are doing. The group is now visiting UTC and will move on to other parts of India from here.

They are spending their time here by having discussions with the students and faculty of the UTC and having exposure trips to different parts of Bangalore. They will be doing a worship on Friday at the UTC Ziegenbalg chapel.

College reopens

The UTC reopened today for the final term of the academic year 2015-16. The reopening tea/coffee was followed by the covenant worship led by the principal and registrar at 6:30 P.M.

The highlights of this term include the entrance exams for BD, MTh and DTh, College Day and Valedictory among other important things.
