The Nation of Refugees performing tomorrow


The UTC, Bangalore will be performing a play titled "The Nation of Refugees" tomorrow (Thursday, Dec 3) at 6 P.M. at the Charles Ranson Hall, UTC. Entry is free.

The play talks about the struggle for a place to live and be human and looks through the journey of a young woman and her past, present and future. It explores the various facets of human struggle, family, celebration, power, nationhood and being a refugee. The play seeks to draw our attention to the possibility of a reversal of roles and the exploration of a common space for all.

The play is directed by Mr. Jain Syriac Babu and has Rebecca, Irene, Prazwal, Rajkumar, Gandhi, Sam Ragland, Ivan, Ashley, Hanson, Ben and Jerry in various roles. The cast is ably supported by Feroze, Fawas and Malavika Rao in charge of stage, lighting, sound, choreography, sound and costume.

Christmas Carol service

 
The UTC Christmas Carol service will  be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the Charles Ranson Hall at 6 PM. The UTC choir will be singing songs and will be joined by various regional fellowships of the college. The theme for this year is "Christmas: Seeking refuge in a home away from home."

The Nation of Refugees. A play


The UTC, Bangalore will be performing a play "The Nation of Refugees" based on the Christmas theme for the year "Christmas: A home away from home" on Thursday, Dec 3, 2015 at the Charles Ranson hall in the UTC. The play (Teaser available here) talks of the plight of people who have to leave their own country and are seen as foreigners and strangers in their own land.

The play explores the frailty of human beings and is an exploration of power and politics and how it affects ordinary people. During advent and leading into Christmas, this play instills hope in all and asks us to join in the struggle for hope, freedom and dignity for all.

The play is directed by Jain Syriac Babu and produced by the Communication department and worship committee of the UTC with active support from the entire college and creative support from SCMI. The cast includes students of the college.

Dedication of the Family Blocks of the Centenary Complex


The dedication of the Family Blocks of the Centenary Complex in the United Theological College, bangalore will be held on Saturday, December 13th, 2014, at 9:30 A.M at the site of the complex and will be followed by a public meeting and lunch in the Charles Ranson Hall.

Shri K.J. George, the honourable Home Minister of Karnataka will be the chief guest, Shri R. Roshan Baig, the honourable minister for Infrastructure Development, Information and Haj, will release the special souvenir and Shri M. K. Gunashekar, the Councillor and Opposition leader, BBMP, will honour the gathering with his presence.

Distinguished and honourable bishops and pastors from various denominations will bless the occasion. All are welcome.

Christmas carol service held in UTC





The Christmas carol service of the UTC was held on Dec 11th in the Charles Ranson Hall. The service which lasted over two hours included Christmas carol songs in various Indian languages. The college which has students and staff from all parts of India, shared the joy of the birth of Jesus by singing and praying together. The various language fellowships got together to bring about a perfect harmony of voice and mind.
