Sr. Dr. Mary Sruthi wins award





Sr. Dr. Mary Shruti was awarded the Rev. A. Lobban award for outstanding indigenous publication of the ISPCK. The Rev. A. Lobban Indigenous Book Award is in memory of Rev. A. Lobban, a clergyman of 21 years and consists of a citation and Rs. 10,000. The award is given to the outstanding indigenous publication of the year and was instituted in 2003 to give recognition to the title selected by a panel of judges for the depth of its study and the impact it makes on the life of the church and society.

PROGRAMME FOR B.D. CANDIDATES FROM MARGINALIZED AND RURAL BACKGROUNDS

In response to the needs of candidates from marginalized and rural backgrounds who are planning to pursue their theological studies at the United Theological College (UTC), Bangalore, the College offers a programme, in order to help them get acquainted with the academic atmosphere of the UTC and to assist them in improving their knowledge as well as their academic skills.  The UTC, therefore, invites applications from socio-economically deprived candidates from the rural backgrounds, especially women, Dalits and Tribals, who are aspiring to do theological studies.  This programme will be held as follows:

Duration of the Programme: September 30th to October 17th, 2015.
Eligibility:     Graduate/Post-graduate from a recognized University.

Only a limited number of scholarships are available to cover tuition fees, boarding and lodging to selected candidates and no family scholarships are provided.

Quiet Day in UTC


The first Quiet Day of the academic year 2015-16 of the United Theological College will be held today and tomorrow in the Ziegenbalg chapel of the UTC. Monsignor Fr. Dr. S. Jayanathan, the director of the Archdiocesan Communication Centre of the Catholic Church, Bangalore Archdiocese will be the Quiet Day leader. The Quiet Day sessions start today evening at 8 P.M. and continue tomorrow at 8:30 A.M., 11 A.M. and 3 P.M.

Monsignor Fr. Jayanathan is the Vicar General of the diocese and has held various positions in different churches and institutions of the Catholic Church in Bangalore. He is a well known preacher and retreat leader.
